Stefan Rogers
Enys Chamber
Music Festival
From 2018 Stefan organised a series of annual chamber music concerts at the Enys estate in Cornwall. Originally this featured a quartet of Junior Guildhall students, however after beginning his undergraduate studies the concerts continued with Stefan’s Manchester based quartet, the Franco-Mendes Quartet, and over the years also featured collaborative concerts with fellow students from the RNCM.
Having seen a great deal of enthusiasm for these concerts from players and audiences alike, Stefan worked with Orla McGarrity and Ammal Bhatia in 2023 to put on the first of an annual festival called the Enys Chamber Music Festival. The first festival featured the award winning Aestus and Talland Quartets as well as Stefan’s own quartet, the Franco-Mendes Quartet, in addition to fellow alumni from the Royal Northern College of Music. Seeking to maintain and grow on the atmosphere of the quartet concerts that happened in previous years, the Enys Chamber Music Festival aims to create a strong sense of community for both musicians and audiences through intimate concerts across local venues in Falmouth, Penryn and the surrounding area. The 2023 festival featured five events over three days including evening concerts, lunch time concerts and an event in collaboration with Enys Gardens titled Music in the Gardens which saw musicians from the festival putting on short performances around the historic gardens open to all visitors.
Seeking to grow the festival year on year, the 2024 festival will be from the 1st to 4th of August and will welcome a very exciting group of young professional musicians including: the Elmore Quartet, Kayan Quartet and Heartwood Quartet. The festival is constantly evolving and seeking to find ways to bring classical music to new audiences, and none of it would be possible without the kind support of sponsors, donors and Enys Gardens.
